Associate SYC members can be active in SYC campaigns, events, and activities under the SYC name. They can be added to the SYC email list and submit articles for the homepage. They are not considered Sierra Club members and can’t vote in SYC or Sierra Club elections unless they become paid members. They will not receive regular SYC or Sierra Club mail-outs but should get the information through their group. Link in with a group you already have! Do we have to be students to start an SYC group? Not at all. We have university, high school, and community groups. You also do not have to be a student to join any of the high school or university groups. Do I have to be between the ages of 15-26 to be active within the SYC? Nope. If you are part of a group (i.e. associate member) you can be any age. Also students of any age can be members of SYC. However, we ask that our volunteer leadership positions remain open for youth.
